Inducing Self-Actualization

Self-actualization means knowing the full potential of a person. Every individual is endowed with lots of talents. But nobody knows his capabilities. Even though, it is known, circumstances hinder him to bring out all the skills embedded within him. Nowadays, the education system in the society is a great barrier for the self-actualization of a person. Right from the childhood, the child is forced to study or know what is taught in the school. No one bothers about the inherent knowledge of someone. There is no time to think over it. A child is brought up in an environment which suppresses him in expressing his creative thinking. This, in course of time, prevents the child to know his self and succumbs to accept the outside world.
Today, it has become essential to induce self-actualization in the younger minds. Most of the time, students, without knowing their power, take up the wrong career path and end up in frustration and disappointment. The fear of failure in taking daring attempts forbids the students to step ahead. How can be self-actualization induced in someone is the question to be answered. Who are all responsible for inducing this? Everyone around a child, his mother, family members, friends and teachers, are responsible.
A mother can easily identify a child's ability to do something. She should appreciate each and every activity of the child. Even if the child is not able to express his skill properly, he should not be discouraged. He should be encouraged to do it better the next time. The child must be allowed to nurture his innate talent.  His mother has to point out the particular skill in a child and let him understand his full strength. He must be motivated to put forth his skill in action. This will enhance the brilliance of the child. The siblings, who grow along with the child, can also spot out the prowess in a child. Instead of teasing or criticizing, if the siblings boost up the child to carry out his special aptitude, he can exhibit his strength without much difficulty.
Not only the family members, but also the friends who are very close to the child, may better induce self-actualization in him. When a child becomes a teenager, he becomes closer to the friends than to his family members. He spends most of the time with them. They become the best critics and commentators of all his activities. This inspiration given by a friend is more powerful than anything else in inducing self-actualization.
Very often, a student, as he grows up, tends to be very lazy. Though he realizes that he has got many skills and talents, he is shy to express it. The present education system does not allow a person to foster his multifaceted skills. Here comes the responsibility of the teacher. The teacher must induce the self-actualization in a person. He should find out and point out the aptitude in the student. He should motivate him to develop his skills. Even if he fails in his first attempt, he should be persuaded to put forth his cleverness.  Today's students need their self-actualization to be induced by some outside power. Once a student is self-actualized, he can do wonders in his life and shine bright.
