Inducing Self-Actualization
Self-actualization
means knowing the full potential of a person. Every individual is endowed with
lots of talents. But nobody knows his capabilities. Even though, it is known,
circumstances hinder him to bring out all the skills embedded within him.
Nowadays, the education system in the society is a great barrier for the
self-actualization of a person. Right from the childhood, the child is forced
to study or know what is taught in the school. No one bothers about the
inherent knowledge of someone. There is no time to think over it. A child is
brought up in an environment which suppresses him in expressing his creative
thinking. This , in course of time, prevents the child to know his self and
succumbs to accept the outside world.
Today, it has become essential to induce self-actualization inthe younger
minds. Most of the time, students, without knowing their power, take up the
wrong career path and end up in frustration and disappointment. The fear of
failure in taking daring attempts forbids the students to step ahead. How can
be self-actualization induced in someone is the question to be answered. Who
are all responsible for inducing this? Everyone around a child, his mother,
family members, friends and teachers, are responsible.
A mother can easily identify a child's ability to do something. She should appreciate each and every activity of the child. Even if the child is not able to express his skill properly, he should not be discouraged. He should be encouraged to do it better the next time. The child must be allowed to nurture his innate talent. His mother has to point out the particular skill in a child and let him understand his full strength. He must be motivated to put forth his skill in action. This will enhance the brilliance of the child. The siblings, who grow along with the child, can alsospot out the prowess in
a child. Instead of teasing or criticizing, if the siblings boost up the child
to carry out his special aptitude, he can exhibit his strength without much
difficulty.

Not only the
family members, but also the friends who are very close to the child, may
better induce self-actualization in him. When a child becomes a teenager, he
becomes closer to the friends than to his family members. He spends
most of the time with them. They become the best critics and commentators
of all his activities. This inspiration given by a friend is more powerful than
anything else in inducing self-actualization.
Very often, a
student, as he grows up, tends to be very lazy. Though he realizes that he has
got many skills and talents, he is shy to express it. The present education
system does not allow a person to foster his multifaceted skills. Here comes
the responsibility of the teacher. The teacher must induce the
self-actualization in a person. He should find out and point out the aptitude
in the student. He should motivate him to develop his skills. Even if he fails
in his first attempt, he should be persuaded to put forth his cleverness.
Today's students need their self-actualization to be induced by some outside
power. Once a student is self-actualized, he can do wonders in his life and
shine bright.

फिर बेटी क्यों नहीं चाहिये?
She was in her womb, ready to sip in the first free air of her life and
she, she was scared.
She should have been happier, on the contrary, and should have been
ready to welcome her first child in this world. But no, she was scared. She had
actually fooled her better half and her in-laws all these nine months by making
stories of a baby boy. She did not go for a foetus' sex check-up for two reasons,
first, it is illegal in India, for obvious reasons, and second, she always
wanted this to be a surprise for herself.
In this world, if you are a woman, you have to be equal to God. If you
are not, you cannot survive.
For her also, as soon as the day came, she was almost dead, not because
of the birth pain, but because of the gender of her baby. In the OT, as soon as
her baby cried, the doctor asked her to guess whether it was a girl or a boy,
and her situation of not being able to save the baby if someone hears it’s a
girl, made her say it’s a boy.
Ah! Such pain.
She was overwhelmed when she knew it was a girl, as that’s what she
wanted. The joy and happiness, was followed by a long and lonely path. It was
then that she knew that her struggle has just begun.
She had to be more than a mother and more than a woman. She had to
protect this little angel from being dead and had to keep herself safe all the
way just to ensure her girl’s safety.
Her good news became their bad news and the worse started happening. The
birth of the girl child made everyone devoid of happiness and she became the
main culprit.
India is known to be a country of values and ethics. But the reason, it
is illegal to check the sex of the foetus , says it all.
As a matter of fact, the families who do not want a girl to be born in
their “Khandan”, have the mother of the house as the leader, a woman.
Her partner is her daughter, a woman again. They want a beautiful and “Susheel
Bahu” but they do not want a girl to be born in their families. And the men who support these, for them it's just one question that I want to ask.
मां चाहिये
बहन चाहिये
पत्नी चाहिये
फिर बेटी क्यों नहीं चाहिये?
At times, when I sit and recall this story, I fail to understand the mind-set
of these illiterate people. Had the ancestors of these families followed the
same process, all the women had been long gone, so how on earth, would that
family have a ”Vansh ”? What would these women do of the “so-called
Vansh”, they are not Hanuman or Ashwatthama, after all.
The world has developed a lot in all these years due to Globalization.
But I think, the word Globalization should be changed and renamed to
Partly-Urbanization because most part of the world still need to purify their thought.

Are You Emotionally Intelligent?
It
is very important to know that emotional intelligence is not only restricted to
a personality domain, where it helps us to recognize our emotions so that it
can help thoughts to generate in our mind which in turn, helps us to understand
the meaning of emotions so as to create a good emotion as well as a good thought,
but it is also considered as another type of intelligence which is different
from IQ.
The
ability of dealing with emotions differ from person to person and this
difference is present in such a way that it is not only complex but is also
varied. Thus, one can consider different types of abilities which can be
compiled as:
1.
To detect someone's emotions by their gestures, the posture of their body, the
pitch of their voice and the way they talk.
2.
To understand the precursor and consequences of emotion.
3.
To smoothen our thoughts by evoking a particular emotion.
4.
To balance the thoughts such as anger and sadness, which are negative.
It
is often assumed that a person's intelligence remains constant with the change
in his or her environment. However, the results show that, instead, a person's
score is constant relative to his or her age group. So, a 17 year old teenager
can solve a problem more easily than an 8 year old kid.
Research
says that there is a change in IQ following early adulthood. After a number of researches
done on the age groups ranging between 21 to 60 years, it is found that due to
the age difference, there is a decline in the function of intelligence. As
there is a cross-sectional contrast rather than a longitudinal contrast in
these studies, there are many problems related to such studies. The studies in
which longitudinal data are available, the decline in the intelligence with age
is less obvious. This result is also supported by the researches done in 1990s
which were based on the cross-sectional and longitudinal samples. The result
also said that the decline in intelligence is considerable in the age group of
65 to 80.
Few
people are more emotionally smart than others. A person with more emotional
intelligence has better social relations. Someone who can perceive emotions
better than others and use them in their thoughts by understanding its meaning is
considered high EI individuals. These people can solve emotional problems more
easily and are more approachable than others. They are more involved in social
activities like teaching and counselling than in occupations like clerical or
any other administrative work. These people are smart enough to keep themselves
away from any negative behaviour and avoid them as much as they can.
If
someone scored high on emotional management of EI test, he or she is more
likely to possess a sentimental attachment with his or her family members and
have more positive social interactions. These people can be more motivating and
can help others achieve their goals.
After
taking the Big Five Personality Test one can easily see how the personality
traits associate with the overall EI. It measures the personality of a person
depending on five factors: Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism,
Agreeableness and Openness.
Extraversion
defines ones orientation towards things which is outside of oneself and also
shows how satisfied a person is after interacting with others.
Conscientiousness shows how careful and orderly a person is. Neuroticism
reflects the tendency to experience negativities. Agreeableness shows how much
someone like and try to please others. Openness shows how much a person tries
to seek out new experiences.
If
answered correctly, one can truly associate the personality traits which are
measured with the overall EI.

Globalization – Is it really a blessing?
The world is uniting and
moving towards the much advanced way of living. Where it used to take months
and years to go from one place to the other; with globalization, it is just a
matter of few hours or few minutes . Globalization is making the world walk hand-in-hand
and is seen as a very important aspect of development in the human civilization.
It has many positive effects on the development of the world and is helping it
to conquer even the impossible things.
It cannot be denied that the
world has progressed a lot after the globalization came into its effect. But on
the same time, this progress has fainted many cultural identities and its
charm. The more this world is becoming globalized, the more it is acquiring one
color, which is definitely taking away the other colors. There are so many
developing countries which are adapting the Western way of living while losing
their own local culture. For e.g., China is a country where there are many
cultural activities that talks about the beauty of the Chinese culture. The
festivals like Dragon Boat festival and Mid-Autumn festival, which have a very
unique identity are becoming less popular. Instead of enjoying their own
culture, people are more into celebrating the Western culture and festivals. If
it continues this way, a day will come when there will be no Chinese culture
celebrated and they will only remain in the books.
It is good to learn about
other culture, their food habits and their way of living; but forgetting
oneself and adapting the other culture altogether, is really a threat for many
cultures.
There are different languages
spoken in different countries and in different regions or cultures. The
globalization has entered into the lives of people so much that they need to
interact with people in the other country every now and then. English, being a
global language, many people use it in their day to day life. It has also
become a sign of dignity and fashion. So, people take pride in talking in
English and ignoring their native language. This has decreased the knowledge of
the local language in the recent generation. For e.g., India itself is a
country with many different languages. There are more than 1500 languages that
are spoken in the country. A recent research showed that the upcoming
generation of the country do not even know the basic of their individual
languages.
This is really stunning. Where
the entire world is busy in adapting the latest technology and increasing the
value of the shares, the real identity of the individuals is becoming faded. Globalization
happened so that the entire world can meet together and think about how to take
out the best out of this life. But forgetting one’s culture and singing one song,
will definitely make everything monotonous and put the world in a back step,
somewhere or the other. Like the above image, may be at the end, we shall be left with just the skeleton of very few cultures while the others will be forgotten, forever.
